Salzburg's wide-ranging offers

Places of interest & spots in the immediate surroundings

Numerous destinations are awaiting you! The selection of interesting places and spots in the immediate surroundings is great. A must is a day visit to the Grossgmain open-air museum, where you can hike through all of Salzburg's districts and discover their history, cultures, construction methods, crafts and ways of working. 100 original buildings, including old farmhouses, can be visited in the largest open air museum of Salzburg. The open-air museum can also be discovered in a very comfortable way with the historical museum train.

A time travel is also the one to Hellbrunn Palace on the outskirts of Salzburg. This summer residence, with its beautiful park and unique water games, was built in 1615 by Prince-Archbishop Markus Sittikus and is considered a very special destination for both young and old. Water-driven figures, caves, fountains - the resident’s visitors are, as it has been for hundreds of years, still astonished and entertained! A place where you can enjoy water and let it surprise you!

Among the insider tips of the locals there are the open-air cinemas. One of the most popular is the Sternenkino Salzburg, located in the Old Town, where you can enjoy delicious street food in addition to the free entrance to the entire show. Other insider tips are the Salzburg Schrannenmarkt and the off-farm sales of the regional farmers. Standowners are pleased to offer you a large number of high quality products such as vegetables, fruits, flowers, jams, juices and snacks. But you may also want to taste fresh products directly from our farmers in Wals. An overview of the providers can be found in the farmyard sales brochure of the municipality Wals-Siezenheim.
